Rich Gang Album Cover Analysis
black has connotations of darkness, hate, mystery and power. negative connotation. when combined with red, creates an aggressive feel. black is also used as when other colours are put against it such as red and white, it contrasts well and makes images and text stand out.
Red has connotations of blood, fire, danger, anger and determination. Red is a stimulant colour which makes us, as the viewer, make quick decisions
The aggressive colour scheme represents the power, strength and fear of black african american males in deprived areas of america. On this CD cover, the males are purposely perceived as alpha males, intimidating, wealthy and serious. This is a clear representation of the music style as rap includes violent language, aggression, talk about hatred, wealth and power.
Front cover font looks quite mechanical and bold which shows the seriousness and power of the artists. Dripping from the font represents blood, which shows life in these areas of America when gang members are heavily involved in murder. The star in the back represents how famous these celebrities are and how they think of themselves as stars; rap/hip hop usually consists of artists with big egos and that think a lot of themselves.
These artists are trying to give the representation of being aggressive and rich, hence the group name "rich gang".
I believe this CD cover conforms to the stereotype of black male citizens in America. This is a representation of race, class and age (black ethnicity, upper class, age 20-35).
I believe the uses and gratifications of this album cover would be personal identity, entertainment and social integration. Personal Identity - Black youths in America, may be involved in crime/gangs. Or this may be for people who aspire to be this wealthy and follow the same path as the artists in what they have decided to do with there wealth (cars, women, big houses, guns, music).

The Notorious B.I.G (Biggie Smalls) - Warning Music Video Analysis - Preproduction reasearch
Biggie is seen waking up out of bed with lots of girls in bed with him - shows he is very sexually active because of his fame
- Slow camera pan across bed to show how large the bed is, exaggerating the fact that he can afford expensive items such as a overly large bed. This also exaggerates how many girls are in bed with him.
Red text "warning' flashes in red, indicating that there is going to be a problem. Connotations of red suggest murder and hatred.
-Puff daddy is seen dropping a lot of money onto a table, immediately indicates these people are rich from the industry and maybe foreshadows that the "warning"/problem may be about money.
-One of Biggie's women puts, what looks like, a robe around him, suggesting that he is some kind of king or is teated like royalty as he is not dressing himself
Puff daddy and biggie are talking on the phone about people who want to kill him because of how much money he has. This explains the title f the song "warning'.

Young Thug - Half Time Music Video Analysis - Preproduction reasearch
-Starts with hand held camera with various red and green filters
-Red shows power and dominance, Green represents money and envy, perhaps for the rich and famous
-Young thug is seen fixing his clothing - gold chains, expensive coat, jordans
-Walking through an airport, shows he has the money to travel a lot
-pulls out a gun and mimics shooting the camera, red filter - blood, shows that he will "kill" anyone who will try to take his fortune
-Wearing headphones, dancing, with lots of people, creates a true representation that he is very popular, music dominates his life, has lots of money
-shows him on the train, makes him look different from regular people, as if he is superior to them, him being in regular public exaggerates his wealth and status.
-Camera angle - always below him, makes him look dominating and superior to watchers and anyone around him
-raps about drug use and sex, showing he can get away with it because he is so famous
-Camera sways around and makes an impression that he is crazy as he pulls strange facial expressions
-Says how he owns Chanel vintage and how rare it is, shows he has a big ego and thinks he is better than everyone else who cannot afford his clothing
- Background is in colour but he is seen in black and white, this can suggest that he may be seen as a historical figure in time as we can only see them in black and white. As only he is in black and white this draws attention to him and singles him out from everyone else, suggesting that he is better.
-Pulls stacks of money out of pocket, kicks them onto the floor and urinates on them - this shows that he has excess money that he doesn't care about because he has so much of it, shows that money has no worth to him because he has that much of it.
-Him and his group are seen smoking large amounts of cannabis, which is a key part of the black hip hop/rap culture. He is representing a whole group of people (The hood in america) where cannabis is legal and shows the everyday life of these people.
-mise-en-scene - guns are seen placed on the tables and in his hand - represents war (perhaps drug war), violence and protection (for his money)
-Red shows power and dominance, Green represents money and envy, perhaps for the rich and famous

Delirium Film Poster Analysis
Age: 16-25
The colours pink and white suggest innocence and femininity. Also, the young actress on the front would appeal to a younger audience as she looks within this age range.
Gender: Female
Colour connotations to pink suggest femininity and is always related to females. This may mean the target audience is women as the main image is a female filtered pink. Also white is used which may portray innocence, also immediately connected with females rather than men. The person on the poster is female and is not sexualised so will appeal as relatable to girls.
Socio-economic group: C1, C2 and B
This looks as if it is perhaps a niche film as it is directed at a very narrow audience. People below group C2 don't tend to watch niche films as they are not shown in main cinemas.
Black Swan Film Poster Analysis
Age: 18-35/40
Colour connotations of red symbolise evil or horror which may suggest that this film is aimed at minimum 18 years. Black Swan is a ballet production and as ballerina's aren't allowed to dance about around the age of 25/30, people older than that may not be that interested in it. The main character, Natalie Portman is 34 years old, which may appeal to people of this age.
Gender: Female
An animated female character is on the poster which immediately shows that the film is based on a female character. Also Swan's are seen as very feminine animals (elegant). Females tend to be mostly interested in watching/taking part in ballet. The colour white is related to purity and innocence, which tends to be stereotyped to female traits. Feathers are also seen which symbolise being delicate and innocent.
Socio-Economic Group: C1 and B
Ballet productions tend to be quite expensive and people in lower groups than this might not be able to afford to watch or would not be interested in classical productions. Natalie Portman is a high rated actress and is seem more relatable to these groups.
